Disney Channel stars Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato gave an exclusive performance of their new song “Make a Wave” yesterday at Walt Disney World. Jonas and Lovato’s duet took place at Epcot and was part of the “Celebrate Volunteers” event held Feb. 11, intended to promote Disney’s “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day” program.

“Make a Wave,” which has not yet been released to the general public, was recorded as part of Disney’s Friends for Change: Project Green, an initiative that encourages kids to get involved with environmental causes. Project Green provides kids with practical, everyday ways to help the environment, encourage their friends to do likewise, and to help Disney decide which causes should receive donations.

The song will also be featured in the Disneynature film “Oceans,” which is scheduled for release on April 22, Earth Day.

The song’s inspirational message – which focuses on images of nature and suggests small actions have an impact – reflects its relationship with both Project Green and “Oceans.” The premiere of the song also tied in well with the “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day” program and “Celebrate Volunteers” event.

The song will debut on Radio Disney on Feb. 26, “Make a Wave” will be available on iTunes beginning March 15; all proceeds will benefit environmental charities though the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund. The Disney Channel’s world premiere of the music video is scheduled for March 14, and the video will be available online at Disney.com the next day.
